Your journal. Your information.
Privacy & security.
Understand what Recollekt uses, where your information goes,
and the choices you have.
Who we are
Recollekt is an iPhone app for journaling and reflection, developed by KONDREDDY GARI MANOJ KUMAR REDDY, who is responsible for Recollekt’s handling of personal information. You can reach the developer at hi@recollekt.app.
This policy covers Recollekt’s iPhone app, public website and support correspondence. Recollekt is currently pre-release. It describes current data handling and the limits of the available deletion and AI-permission controls; planned features are not represented as available.
Information we use
The information involved depends on the features you use. Journal writing can include deeply personal information, so the same care applies to the content and to the records derived from it.
AI & your information
Recollekt uses third-party cloud AI for reflections, answers, summaries, memory, dictation and read-aloud. Depending on the feature, relevant writing, questions, earlier entries, personal context, microphone audio or selected text is shared outside your device. Saved entries may also be processed automatically for summaries and memory.
Third-party AI and diagnostics services currently include OpenAI, xAI, Google and Braintrust (when diagnostics are enabled). Other providers support accounts, storage, subscriptions, support and this website.
AI can make mistakes. Reading this policy does not grant AI permission. See your choices and retention and deletion for the current controls and limits.
Account & profile
Your email address, account identifier and sign-in details are processed by our authentication service provider to create and secure your account and deliver sign-in codes. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple supplies an identity token and may supply your name and an email or private relay address. Optional profile names, biography and profile photo are kept on your device and in cloud storage to display your profile and restore your settings.
Journal entries & AI reflections
Entries include the text and formatting you write, titles, dates, journal organization and any attachments or location tags you add. Local copies and drafts support writing and recovery; synced entries are kept in cloud storage. AI features can share entry text, relevant earlier writing, questions and conversation context with the services described above. Generated reflections, conversations, summaries and information used to find relevant earlier writing may also be saved with your account.
Voice recordings & transcripts
When you dictate, third-party AI processes microphone audio and relevant context to turn speech into writing. Transcripts and records used to recover interrupted dictation are kept on your device and in cloud storage. Audio you save as a journal attachment is also stored locally and in cloud storage. Temporary recordings and provider copies have separate lifecycles; deleting an entry does not immediately erase every copy.
Photos you choose
Photos you select or capture for an entry are saved as journal attachments on your device and in cloud storage. A profile photo is stored with profile information. Selecting a photo does not give Recollekt access to your entire photo library. Current reflection and answer requests send text and context, rather than photo attachment bytes.
Mood check-ins
Mood answers, dates and related check-in information are stored locally and in cloud storage to show your check-ins and trends. When included in a reflection or AI request, mood-related text and context can be processed by third-party AI. Anything sensitive you write in an entry is treated as part of that entry.
Optional entry location
If you enable entry location and grant iOS permission, Recollekt requests a location when creating an entry. The resulting tag can contain a place label, precise latitude and longitude, region and capture time. Apple’s map services help resolve the place label. The tag is stored with the entry locally and in cloud storage. Location information you write into text may also reach AI providers with that text.
Diagnostics & service usage
Diagnostics can include account or request identifiers, errors, performance information and service usage. Our service providers process these records to troubleshoot problems, maintain reliability and enforce usage limits. When AI diagnostics are enabled, the information can include AI request diagnostics. These records can contain personal information, including information in error messages.
Purchases & subscriptions
For App Store subscriptions, Apple handles payment. Where our subscription integration is enabled, a subscription service provider receives an app account identifier and purchase or transaction information to determine subscription access and restore purchases. Subscription status and usage records can also be kept in cloud storage and processed by our service providers. Recollekt does not receive your payment-card details from Apple.
Support requests
When you email support, your email address and the information you choose to include are processed by the developer and the email service providers used to deliver and store the correspondence. Send only the details needed to resolve your issue. No automatic expiry has been configured for support correspondence.
Website requests
Our website hosting provider processes the network request information needed to deliver Recollekt’s public website, such as your IP address, browser request and requested page. The privacy and support pages do not require sign-in or submit journal content.
Recollekt does not currently connect to Apple Health or collect HealthKit records.
Security & storage
Recollekt uses HTTPS to protect information sent to its cloud services and iOS file protection for its draft store. Account sign-in and access controls help limit cloud data access to the relevant account. These measures reduce risk; they do not make every device or cloud service immune to unauthorized access.
You can enable App lock in Recollekt’s Privacy settings to require device authentication using Face ID or your device passcode. Apple handles that authentication; Recollekt does not receive your Face ID biometric data.
App lock protects access on your device. It does not make cloud processing end-to-end encrypted. Recollekt’s server and the selected AI provider must be able to process the content involved in a cloud request.
Your information can be held on your device, in cloud storage, in service logs and by the providers processing a request. Recollekt’s cloud storage and app service currently use US hosting. Other providers may process information in other countries. This policy does not promise that every provider copy remains in a particular country. Device backups may also contain app data depending on your backup settings.
Your choices
Microphone, photos & location
Use iPhone Settings → Apps → Recollekt to change the permissions offered by iOS. For new entry location tags, also turn off Use location for entries in Recollekt’s Privacy settings. Changing a permission stops the corresponding future access; it does not delete information already saved or transmitted.
AI permission
Recollekt uses AI to help you reflect on your writing. Before entering the app, you acknowledge the policies and explicitly allow AI processing. If you want to withdraw permission or make a privacy or data request, contact hi@recollekt.app without including journal content. Recollekt requires AI permission to use the app; withdrawal does not delete your writing or cancel a subscription. A request is complete when support confirms it. Requests already in progress and information already sent cannot be recalled.
Access, corrections & privacy requests
You can view your saved entries, continue writing in drafts and update your profile in the app. Editing a saved entry is not currently available. For account deletion, follow the in-app steps. For access, correction, export, specific-data deletion or help completing a request, contact the developer. Any identity verification should use only the information needed to confirm account ownership. Do not email passwords, sign-in codes or journal content.
Retention & deletion
Saved writing is not automatically deleted just because it is old. Recollekt has no app-wide, age-based expiry for saved journals, attachments, speech recovery records, retained AI records, diagnostics, purchase records or support correspondence. Providers may apply their own retention periods to copies they hold.
Delete your account in the app
Open Profile → Account → Delete account, confirm your identity, then confirm deletion. Email accounts use a code sent only to the email already associated with the account. Apple-linked accounts use Continue with Apple.
Identity verification alone does not delete anything. You can cancel before the final confirmation. Once the deletion request is accepted, it cannot be undone. The optional founder call and subscription cancellation are not required to delete your account.
See the deletion steps and troubleshooting help. If the option is unavailable in your version or you cannot sign in, email hi@recollekt.app. Deletion help is available without an active subscription or AI permission.
What account deletion removes
Deletion removes your Recollekt sign-in account and its stored cloud data: journal entries and drafts, uploaded photos and recordings, moods, profile and preferences, memories, Lucy and Reflekt conversations, and account-linked subscription-status records. It applies to the account you confirmed; it does not delete another person’s account or the original photos in your iPhone’s photo library.
Once your confirmed request is accepted, Recollekt blocks further account changes and new AI requests. Cloud deletion continues automatically, even if you close the app. Uploaded files are removed before the cloud sign-in account and its linked records. Failed steps are retried; outages or larger accounts can take longer to process.
After the request is accepted, the app removes that account’s local data from the device that requested deletion, signs you out and returns to onboarding. When cloud deletion is confirmed, Recollekt shows an “Account deleted” confirmation while the app is open or when you return. If local cleanup fails, the app offers a retry. Other accounts and local writing that was never associated with the deleted account are preserved. Copies on other or offline devices need separate cleanup; contact support for help.
What may remain
Minimal records of the deletion request, progress and retry status remain so Recollekt can finish cleanup and prevent older devices or delayed requests from restoring deleted data. Deleting an individual entry also queues cleanup of its stored content and attachments; small sync-deletion records may remain for the same reason.
Recollekt requests deletion of known stored OpenAI responses, attributable AI diagnostic records and the associated customer record held by its subscription service provider. These requests are retried separately. Cloud-account deletion can finish while a provider is still processing cleanup; an acknowledgement is not proof that every provider copy has been erased.
Backups follow their retention schedules. Older provider records that cannot be linked to your account, provider safety or abuse-monitoring records, support correspondence and records retained for legal or security obligations may remain under the applicable retention rules. Requests already sent to a provider cannot be recalled. Recollekt does not promise instantaneous erasure of every copy or verified zero retention across all providers.
Coming back after deletion
Once deletion is complete, signing in with the same email can create a new account. It does not restore the deleted account, entries or conversations. Returning does not automatically give you a new trial or cancel an existing subscription.
Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage Apple subscriptions separately to stop renewal. You can continue with account deletion without cancelling first.
